With all the talk about the Constitution, and whether it is being adhered to by this administration, I started considering how many of us really know what is in it. I know we spout off about our freedoms, our right, and when we think they are being infringed upon, but do we really know what it says? So in an effort to "practice what I preach" I decided to read it last evening. To my surprise I found it much easier to read than I had imagined, it's not very long and lays out our governing laws quite simple.
Here are the two Articles, in this wonderful document, I feel address some of the concerns expressed.
Article II Section 1. Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: - "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States
Article IV Section. 4. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence
Article IV could be used to explain Arizona's new law to protect itself against "domestic Violence". Whether you agree, or not, with Arizona's new law they are guaranteed by the Constitution to defend themselves if the Government of the United States doesn't. I don't think anyone can deny the level of violence and kidnapping that has been increasing in that state, or deny the border issue is the main cause. This could be interpreted as the "Invasion" part of the Article (it may seem extreme, but it is an interpretation).
Article II goes to the heart of the issue; if Article IV is not being upheld than Article II is in question on this situation alone.
If you feel the President is taking us from a Republic form of government to a Socialistic form of government than Article II Section 1 could also be in play.
I have added this link to a copy of the Constitution for your reference. Please read it, everyone should know the freedoms and rights they have, and what they are talking about when they refer to the actions of our government, states rights, and the preservation of the laws that have made us the great country we are.
The interpretation of these Articles are my own opinions of how they could be applied to certain situations going on today. I am sure there are many different interpretations out there.
