Triathletes are always looking for ways to shave seconds and even minutes off their time. Sadly many of these athletes neglect upper body strength when contemplating ways to achieve greater times.
It's counter intuitive to think this way, but strengthenin your upper body could very well give you that little edge you need out there on the course.
You see, when you are crouched over on your bike, with all of your upper body weight bearing down on your arms, your neck and shoulders are under constant strain. As these muscles begin to fatigue you begin to lose stamina in your the core muscles of your body which in turn trickles down to your legs.
Simple exercises such as shoulder shrugs, curls, tricep extensions, bench press, and bent over rows can help stengthen your upper body and help you get that extra push at the end of the bike leg.
Try it out. I think you'll see improved results fairly quickly.
