San Marco in Jacksonville FL

San Marco is a trendy and historic shopping and residential area just south of downtown Jacksonville Florida. Developed in the 1920s by Telfair Stockton, the Square was modeled after the Piazza San Marco in Venice ~ that's right, Venice as in Italy.  The signature Lions bronze sculpure in the middle of the Square are flanked by shops and restaurants. If you live in the suburbs, San Marco is a fun trip for lunch and unique shopping.

Homes in San Marco range from bargain bungalows under $100,000 to the Millions, from starter homes to the Swisher Estate at 10,000 Square Feet on the St. Johns River, presently for sale at $6,900,000.

Hi Frank and Sharon-

What a charming landmark.  I love the older areas and the ways that they are sometimes inspired by beautiful and faraway places.

It looks like a great place to spend the day shopping.  I love the achitecture and fountain in the photo and I know I would love to explore this historic district.

Frank & Sharon, That is a crisp, clean photo. Reminds me of the Winchester, TN Town Hall without the “Back to the Future” clock tower.

Hi Sharon, Very nice  and it is interesting to learn how this square got it's name. The lion fountain is really impressive. Nicely done!
