The real estate industry is a funny business, filled with unique personalities and hilarious situations that make it a constant three ring circus, and that's just on the advertising side of things! About two weeks ago I took over the Active Rain account for U.S. Cybertek, Inc. , a company that specializes in media marketing, advertising and social solutions for Realtors. If you need an amazing website, a way to keep track of your clients or a friendly, effective way to keep in contact with your client base, we got ya covered and have more tools and options waiting in the wings for you...but I digress!
So what is the real purpose of this post? It is a good, old fashioned gloat. Yep, I'm currently cheering, doing my victory dance and will shortly be turning cartwheels on the lawn, why? I MADE THE SECOND PAGE!!! That's right! If you look under Missouri (MO) on the states page on Active Rain and go to page two, there I am! Granted I'm all the way at the bottom, but since I was at the bottom of page three a little over two weeks ago, I'm not complaining at all!
The next question: Why does this make me so happy? Because it gives me a sense of accomplishment, and the ability to reach out to more people. Many people will tell you that the points don't matter, and to a certain extent that's true. It's not the points, it about visibility. It's about being able to have your posts reach the people that need them and that will most benefit by the information contained in them. And no matter how good a blog post I write, it is useless if no one sees it. Like I said before visibility is key, and I can't do that from the shadows. (or the bottom of the third page.)
Everyone in the Active Rain community has a slightly different reason for being here. If you are just here to relax, promote you business and enjoy the companionship of the other amazing real estate people and Reators, then props for being on any page at all! It's not easy to put your thoughts out there and it is even more nerve wracking when you job depends on it. Personally, I'm here for three reasons.
1. Promote The Company I Work For, U.S. Cybertek, Inc. Why? Because they are amazing at what they do and they are a good solid company with your best interests at heart. A little known fact is that they are a family company. My hubby, father, baby sister (at 19 she's the youngest employee) and brother-in-law all work here too. Granted there are other awesome employees that are not blood relations, but the feel is the same. And as a family we work together to provide the best services available to our clients. (and no I'm not just saying this cause they write my paycheck! ;)
2. Meet the Realtors. How can you effectively do a job when you don't know anything about who you work for? I came to this site to learn all I can about Realtors as a group. Being the smug little toad I sometimes am, I thought "What's there to know? They sell houses." WRONG! It is so much more than that! I've discovered that there is a wealth of information here, and not just about real estate either. Realtors as a breed, I have discovered, are a warm and fuzzy bunch. Now don't get me wrong, there are some sharp edges and sandpaper in there too, but for the most part they are just what the name Realtor implies, down to earth and perfectly real people.
3. For The Fun Of It. It's a blast here! I never cease to be amazed at the posts here, topics can range from a new listing or a life story to a humor filled photo or valuable market information on a minutes to minute basis. I love being able to share information and swap stories with the other members here. It's honestly become one of the best parts of my day. I like being able to help other people and this gives me that chance.
So the long and short of it, I found a place I really enjoy and I'm here to stay. And for those of you on the first page of Missouri, watch out! I'm working hard, coming up fast, and I want your spot! .... Pretty please? ;)
