The 4th of July holiday weekend is almost here, and even if you're not lucky enough to have a long weekend with the 4th falling on a Sunday this year, there's lots of local 4th of July events taking place on Saturday and Sunday around the Charlotte area for you to choose from.
From Birkdale and Davidson to the north, center city Charlotte, Matthews and south Charlotte plus Lake Wylie and Fort Mill there are 4th of July events all over the Charlotte area this weekend.
And it's not just fireworks (though there's several options to choose from when it comes to local fireworks displays in and around Charlotte). Live music and concerts, parades, parties, baseball (at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill), and even activities at the U.S. National Whitewater Center and Carowinds are celebrating Indpendence Day in the Charlotte NC area this weekend.

Thankfully the (seemingly) never ending heat wave we've been enduring lately is supposed to break by the 4th of July weekend here in Charlotte so while it won't be cool outside it should be more comfortable for the holiday events outdoors than the upper 90's we've been sweating through lately!
