It tugs on a mother's heart strings to see your first born son graduate high school and realize he's not a child any more.  But when he follows that walk down the aisle in cap and gown two weeks later with a bus ride to boot camp, then you know he's now a man.

My fellow ActiveRain member, business associate and dear friend Bonnie DuPree has had both of those experiences in the last 2 weeks.  

Our sons graduated in the same class from Murphy High School on June 12.  Last Sunday, Bonnie delivered her son Ryan Kotchenreuther to Sylva, North Carolina where he and his best friend, TJ Major, boarded the bus taking them to boot camp.

Ryan will serve our country as a US Marine.

Thank you, Ryan, for your decision to protect and serve. 

Thank you, Bonnie, for raising such a fine young man...and for giving him proudly to our country.
