In my short time as an Active Rainer, I have read nothing but good things about Karen George.  She is a person that gave one of the most important assets that she has - [HER TIME] - to helping other Active Rainers achieve success.  I have started going back and reading her old blogs and trying to implement whatever I can, as fast as I can.

George Tallabas has just written a great blog in tribute to Karen.  If you haven't read it yet, please do so by following this link My 300th Post - Let It Rain For Karen George.  George is going to be donating money based on new sign-ups.  Kudos to George!

Many of the things that Karen George taught George Tallabas are now being passed on to me.  George has been extremely helpful to me in my first week or so as an Active Rainer.  I can't thank him enough for his guidance in helping me to get my profile to be the most effective tool that it can be.

I believe that one good turn deserves another.  One of my favorite movies of all time is Pay It Forward.  If you haven't yet seen the movie, I highly recommend that you do.  It's about thanking people for good deeds by doing them yourself.  Karen gave to George and George gave to me.  I would like to Pay It Forward and go full circle by giving back to Karen.

We have over 42,000 Active Rainers currently and the number is growing by the day.  I propose that we use the power of many to help out one very important person to this community.  If each of us sends just $10 to Karen George, we could raise over $400,000 to help her in her time of need.  Think about all of the things that we buy everyday that we could do without to make this contribution (lottery tickets, cups of coffee, lunch in a fast food restaurant).  My check is going out this week, and I hope that yours will to.

Let's show the world the power of Active Rain by sending those $10 checks to:

Karen George

C/O Calie Waterhouse

1900 W. Chandler Blvd. #15-282

Chandler, AZ 85224

Individually we can help a little.  As a group we can make a huge difference! Please read the blog from Calie Waterhouse by following this link Contributions For Karen George.

George and Calie have put their commitment in writing and I have too. I'm sure that  others have done so as well.  If you are planning on contributing, please put it in writing on your own blog or by commenting on this one.  Thank you Rainers!

George - It is my pleasure to do whatever I can.  Even though I have no direct connection to Karen, I feel as though I know her through your posts and many other admirers.  The more that we can all do to spread the word the better.  If you'd like to link to my post in one of your blogs, I think that it can only help the cause.  Missy is going to flag it for a feature, and I did as well with an explanation to the powers that be that the Active Rain community can truly make a difference if we set our minds to it.  I think it's great what you're doing, and I hope that my message helps.  If you ever speak to Karen (by e-mail) please let her know that there are people out there that don't even know her that care very much and want to help.

Missy - Thank you for your support.  I really appreciate it.  I've requested that this post be flagged as well because I think that together, the Active Rain community really can make a difference.  I appreciate you flagging it as well.  With people like you and George on board, hopefully we can get the word out to as many members as possible.  This whole community is based upon helping each other, and I can't think of a more important cause that Rainers are facing right now.  Thank you again for your help.  It is greatly appreciated.

WOW, Adam.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.  While what Karen is going through is very difficult and very challenging, the love, support and prayers that the A/R community has generously poured onto to her and her family is nothing less than miraculous.   When another blogger commented if each person on A/R would donate just $1, that would provide Karen just over $40,000 towards her medical bills.  But, honestly, Adam - what's $10 to us?  One lunch? One movie ticket? Two games of bowling?

BTW - Adam, would you please leave a comment on the Contributions blog (mentioned above) and leave a link your (very well written) blog?  Together ... we are definitely accomplishing more!

Thanks Desiree - You are one of my favorites as well.  I really hope that we can meet face-to-face when I come to NJ.  I hope that we can do some great things together.  This really is such an important cause.  I hope that Rainers get behind this.  We all do so much to help each other, and truthfully the donation amount requested is about what a fraction of our time is worth if you break it down into our hourly wage.  If you haven't already done so, can you please flag this post and/or recommend it by ranking it.  I'm hoping that the powers that be at Active Rain have the same compassion that we all have and feature this so that we can increase our strength in numbers.  As far as Pay It Forward is concerned, everyone should absolutely see the movie.  It's virtually impossible to come out of it without feeling totally inspired.  I think that I'm going to rent it again.  It's been a while since I've seen it.  Thanks again for your continued support.  I really do appreciate it.  I'll speak to you soon.

Bump to the top!  I sent a Visa gift card a few days ago in response to Calie's post and I'm so happy to see this gaining momentum.  In my very short time here on AR, I have learned so much and a lot of what I learned came from reading through Karen's posts.  She is such a generous, marvelous person - her personality just shines through in every word she writes.  I, for one, am happy to have a small way to repay her for all of her unselfish support and dedication to the AR community.

Thanks for doing this!

I have not watched this movie. It will be on my list.

I am in on the donation. What an awesome power. We all "loose" $10 here and there everyday with a cup of coffee, a toy our children dont need, a t-shirt we could live without. This is such an awesome idea. Thanks for suggesting it!

Adam ~  I, too like the movie...except the end is so sad!   Anyway, well done and great idea.  Every step we take away from ourselves and towards another in need is a step in the right direction!  May you be showered with blessings as you continue to go about this project with Calie.  I will be participating in both my idea and in yours!  Good night (or morning for you!)

SARAH:  I try not to think about the ending when thinking about the movie, so that I can keep the inspiration with me for the "good parts."  Are you a Hallmark writer in your spare time?  I love the quote "Every step we take away from ourselves and towards another in need is a step in the right direction!"  Thank you for your support, both personally and for Karen George.  It is greatly appreciated.

Adam ~  No, I do not think I write for Hallmark, and I know I truly have zero spare time.  This is why the bulk of my blogs are written so late at night!  :-)  As for the quote, I just made it up as I wrote it.  And, on only two hours of sleep the night before!  You are very welcome, and may I assure you that my support will be here whenever you or anyone needs it.  Have a terrific day, and we'll talk again soon...

Isn't it amazing that your post, George's post and mine seem to have taken on lives of their own?  It speaks volumes to me about the heart and soul of my fellow Active Rainers.

Thank you to everyone who has sent a card to Karen.  If you included your name on the return address, I sent you an email when the card arrived.  If you didn't include your name, then my apologies - there's no way for me to know who you are.  If you want to email me to make sure it arrived safely, I'll be glad to check.

Thank you so much, Adam! I'm sure your generosity will come back to you ten fold!
