So it seems as if there is always questions about linking so I thought I'd write a little something. Agents that work on their own site know that building a good link campain is important. Linking is one of the ways to help your serach engine rankings. For awhile there everyone started figuring this out and they just started exchanging links with anyone and everyone.
The key to linking is not quanity but quality and relevance. Your links need to be related to the topic of Real Estate, Mortgages, Moving and things like that. When submitting to Real Estate Directories make sure they are really giving you a good link. Good links look something like this,
<a href="http://www.us-realestatedirectory.com">us-realestatedirectory.com</a>
or even better if the link had some good text link like,
<a href="http://www.us-realestatedirectory.com">Real Estate Agents</a>
Some directories don't really give you the link that you think you are getting. Look out for the links that look like
<a href=http://www.directoryname.com?linkid=209">yoursite.com</a>
Those types of links are not going to help you at all. Check out Real Estate Agents and Real Estate Webmasters Forums and my second directory, Real Estate Agents where you can get some good one way links from a industry related site.
Another thing is make your links look as natural as possible, what I mean by this is don't just go out and get 10,000 reciprocal links in a week, make sure you have reciprocal links, one way link and outgoing links on your site and gather them all in time. Getting to many links to fast can get you banned from the major search engines.
