Beliefs usually can't be proven, which is what makes them so powerful, so powerful that people and countries throughout history have gone to war over their beliefs. That's the main reason why I like to keep my beliefs on a personal level, so that they affect me and only me.

I believe in the power of one, the power of me, the power of my mind, the power of my thoughts and my actions. My beliefs are so ingrained in me that they propel me onward and upward, enjoying all that is around me, even those with different beliefs, for their beliefs are just as personal to them as mine are to me.

"In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true." — John Lilly (1915-2001), American physician and philosopher

No matter what your religion, the power of belief is one of the strongest human qualities.

My positive beliefs drive me. Then its a matter of finding what drives someone else. It reminds me of this scene:

If you don't believe in yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?

Hi Russel, Beliefs give us the power and passion as to what we as individuals are all about and what we represent.

Good post for the morning. If you don't believe in yourself why would you expect anyone else to?

Hi Russel, It's like the saying that guides me:  "If you believe it, you can achieve it."  The tricky part is to shut out the naysayers who with allegedly best intentions, will tell you not to get your hopes u so you won't be disappointed.

I remember reading The Center of the Cyclone in college. Nice to know he is remembered and used in your post and it is so true.

Russel,

Great post and a very enjoyable read.  We love your positive attitude, and we have learned a lot from the Mormons, when we ski in Utah.  We love their pay it forward philosophy.  Come to think of it, every religion has something special and wonderful to offer.

Hey, everyone!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I've been very busy, but today I'm trying to follow up on these older posts like this one to see if anyone had any questions or if I really need to respond to anyone's comments.

I will read all the comments and respond to any that need a response, but since this post is rather old, rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those in comments below this one. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!

Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too!

If you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days.

Hope all is well with everyone.
