The pond is managed for cold and warm water fisheries including brown trout, brook trout, smallmouth bass and chain pickerel. A boat access is located at the Moy-Mo-Day-O Recreation Area.

The town owned Pequawket Beach at Moy-Mo-Day-O Recreation Area is open Memorial Day to Labor Day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Day use is $5/car or seasons passes are available from the town office for $25/residents and $30/non-residents. The area includes the boat launch and dock, a 1,500 foot sandy beach plus changing rooms, tennis courts, volley ball area, horseshoe pit, picnic tables, charcoal grills, playground and walking trails through the adjacent forest.

Unlimited winter access is allowed for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Each year an ice fishing derby is held at the boat launch to benefit Camp Sunshine. ATV trails in the area are maintained by the Limington Wheelers ATV Club.

Boating on the lake offers views of nearby mountains including Moody Mountain (692 feet above sea level) and Sawyer Mountain (1,100 feet). The Frances Small Heritage Trust owns 1,400 acres on Sawyer Mountain. The land is open for public use for hiking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and horseback riding. Access is via the discontinued Sawyer Mountain Road off of Route 117.

The Limington Harmon Airport/Airpark is Limington's link to the outside world. This privately-owned, public-use airport located at 13 Airport Drive, has "modern amenities and an old-time spirit."

For a bit of town history, an article at the Limington Historical Society describes a Vacation Training Camp founded in the 1920s on Pequawket Lake: "A new camp will open later this month at North Limington by Col. Edward C. Gibbs of Boston, who was formerly associated with President Hoover. The object of the camp is to help fatigued business men and executives to ‘get back into trim' for his season's work."

So . . . if you are a fatigued business man or woman or an executive, owning lakefront property on Horn Pond (Pequawket Lake) in the sleepy town of Limington might be just the cure you need.

The original name of the pond is Horn Pond because the eastern end is shaped like an ox head with horns, but it's also knows as Pequawket Lake, since the east side was the site of a Native American encampment. At 166 acres, with a maximum depth of 58 feet, Horn Pond has above average water quality. George Bouchard and Carden Welch are the volunteer lake monitors. The pond has been surveyed for invasive plant species and to date none have been found. Horn Pond is 1. 2 miles long and spring-fed by Stone and Hanscom Brooks plus numerous springs.
