Perennial Gardener Olympia

Perennial Gardener - Olympia.  This nursery specializes in perennials as you might expect from the name, but also does carry annuals as well.  They have a location at 5424 Boston Harbor Rd. Olympia where they are open from 10-6 on Thursday - Sunday.  (They also are at Farmer's Market downtown those same days)  What a wonderful resource for those of us who love to garden, and appreciate not only a great selection of quality, healthy plants; but also the advice of a really, really knowledgeable and experienced gardener.

Perennial Gardener Olympia

I first discovered Perennial Gardener when I was desperately trying to find something that would grow successfully under a large cedar tree in our yard.  It had to be something that didn't need much sunshine or rain, and I also wanted it to spread and be colorful.  No problem!  The Perennial Gardener had a multitude of possibilities for me, along with lots of info about what growth patterns each had so I could select the right ones.  And it worked - I have thriving plants adding color under my cedar tree, and filling in more and more each year.

Today I visited them again, on the search for more of a hardy geranium that I have in one area of the garden already.  Since the winter killed one shrub I had growing right in the corner of our front walkway, I have been trying to come up with a plan to add something new there that would be just right.  And - more of the hardy geranium was what I came up with - it forms a nice mound shape that would be just the right size and wouldn't get too tall.  And blooms galore all summer long - perfect.

Browsing through a nursery is one of my favorite things - though dangerous, since it is REALLY hard to resist all the beautiful plants blooming away so merrily.  So I am amazed at myself - I found and bought the hardy geranium I went there to find, and did not come away with anything else!  Might be a first.... Although - a few of those rainbow colored petunias are kind of calling me - I might have to make another trip soon!!  I'm sure I have room for them somewhere!!

The flowers look wonderful Nancy... Too bad I can't plant flowers in my yard.  The deer inevitably eat up the deciduous growth where I live...Have a good 4th.

Hi Cherise!  Hope you have a good 4th too!  We have deer that like to munch our garden, but they don't usually get into my flowers since the dogs bark like crazy if they get closer to the house.
