Celebrating independence day at a back yard near you...have a wild fourth of July everyone.

Are you talking to me?

I'm sure all the city folk reading my "White mountain blog" will say isn't it cool...you have bears and other wild creatures right out of your door? Well, I spent the morning shoveling and raking up the trash this guy got in to.

Small price to pay to live so close to nature, you may say? The problem is anyone who know what these guys do with your nicely bagged and barreled trash will tell you...theyl get the stuff all over. They get in to the barrels by tearing off the lids, then for added fun they play the game of dragging the trash to the edge of the woods in case a hasty retreat is called for. This means the cleaner of last nights meal, is required to rake and shovel around, and under trees bushes poison sumac, poison ivy, and Thornie vegetation.

Anyone wishing to see a bear in his natural habitat...you are welcome to come over, and grab a shovel when the feast is done.

If you would rather see a live bear show...run by professional trainers...go see the bear shows at:

www.clarkstradingpost.com

Here are a couple of his friends I find milling about the yard when I get home from work...these guys party all day while I'm at work, what a life - free food and someone to clean up after them.

Big Red like flowers and Cats.

Bullwinkle...likes to step on newly planted gardens and I'm pretty sure he's a Taurus.

Sometimes I think I'm running a Zoo at my house, except its the wildlife that's in charge and not the keeper!!

P.S. I left the trash photos out of the blog...but believe me it was a mess.

Our wild life is a bit smaller but the rabbits still like to eat the green beans . They do seem quite tame. Have a great 4th.

Steve the fun of living out in the country.  I don't think I would want to get in the way of Mr Bear and his friends when they are trying to feast on their bagged lunch :)

You sure do have ALL the wildlife, Steve!  MOOSE? I didn't even think about you having moose in your area!  Love all the shots you capture and I think it's awesome you have all the animals right in your "backyard".

Leesa, These guys were here first, and there are a lot of them around...but I still don't like cleaning up after them.

Steve, We used to have raccoons.  I remember the mess.  Why not take your trash out in the morning?  We used to bag it and leave it in the garage until morning.

Wow, a moose in your backyard!  I was asking a friend that was just to Alaska if she saw any and she said no - they were vacationing in your yard.

The very first time I saw a bear (outside of the zoo) was when Scott and I used your generous wedding gift of a weekend getaway at one of your rentals.  I wish I could find the photo I snapped...the bear was just a foot away from Ronnie Ham's cherished Corvette.  Needless to say, we were way more entertained at the proximity of nature than Ronnie was ;)

Steve, You live in an amazing area and I enjoyed your photos of the wildlife in your backyard! Of course, I'm glad the bear had plenty of food to satisfy his hunger and just glanced in your direction!
