Hi Marc...way to much tax across Canada and these bums cannot balance their budgets. In Britain it's going to 18%. No body gets it, they'll drive business underground, reduce taxes and people will spend more....da

Have a great weekend :O))

Hi Scott - Alberta is actually a province which is the Canadian version of a state.  Which part of Alberta or city of Alberta were you in?

Vick - I'm glad you enjoyed learning about sales tax rates across our entire country.  In Canada, sales taxes apply across an entire province.  In many US states, sales tax rates often vary by city, county, state and/or other jurisdiction level.

Fred - 18% is a "less expensive" VAT rate for Europe.  Many countries in Europe have rates ranging from 19% to 25.5%.  See this page on Wikipedia.  I do NOT know if the Wikipedia page is up to date.

Ty - It's always nice to know how Ontario's sales tax rate compares to other provinces and territories in Canada.
