It is time for my monthly update for the Long Grove Area from the Northwest Realtor Association regarding the real estate market in Long Grove. The Realtor board combines the home sales of Hawthorn Woods, Long Grove and Kildeer as these towns share the same Zip Code and are of similar type of homes.
The good news is that sales are up in the Long Grove area through May of 2009. In 2009 there were 101 properties sold through May, and in 2010 we currently have 149 sold homes in and around Long Grove. This is an increase of 47.5% from last year. The other side is that the prices have decreased. The averages sales price has gone down 8.6% from $421,931 to $385,447. This would be due to the amount of short sales and foreclosures in our area.
Long Grove Real Estate is on the Upswing!
We now have a tax credit extension so anyone who had a home under contract and was not able to close by the deadline of June 30th will not have until October 30th to close. This will also help with the current inventory of homes that were sold in Long Grove, Hawthorn Woods, and Kildeer but unable to close before the deadline.
When working with buyers the one constant comment that always comes up is the School District and Stevenson High School helps keep our market stabilized. Stevenson is an award winning school and is a big draw for Long Grove Buyers.
For those of you who play Golf, Long Grove is surrounded by County Clubs and Golf Courses including Twin Orchards, Royal Melbourne, Kemper Lakes, and Hill Crest. Most of these areas have beautiful homes surrounding the Golf courses as well.
