Jack Arse and SidekickComment me, Comment me!  Why won't people comment me?

LOL is this photo better!

Here's why:  You're an unimaginative thief that is just copy and pasting from Homegain, MSN Real Estate and Realtor.com!  It bores us and wrecks your reputation - in short, maybe we don't want to play with you because of it.

Sunday and Monday must be murder for a moderator.  Every ding dong trying to "get their points" is pumping out posts.  Unfortunately, the copy on those posts is as hot as Georgia asphalt.

If you copy and paste someone else's work (yes, even those big corporations are somebody elses work) you're steal and you LOOK STUPID.  You aren't fooling anyone.  People like me:

  • Read your post (not really, it looks canned so we just KNOW you stole it)  It is sanitized and boring textbook material reflecting no imagination or human interaction and it's spell checked  (LOL) Come on!  You know that's funny!
  • Sometimes we just have to look at the bottom of the copy: Copyright © 2007 Realty Times. All Rights Reserved.
  • We snag a paragraph from your stolen copy.
  • We paste your STOLEN words in the search bar and lo and behold we find it's from HomeGain, again.
  • We click the little red flag at the bottom of your post and report you to administration.  They will be giving you a "no points" award for your back handed, blackhat, blogging techniques.

Now, I'm going to go back and finish flagging the other ninepost this little cutie pie stole and used to lie to us and her customers.

Chris - Nicely done.  I had to stop in and "Comment" just for your honest efforts.  Thank you.

I have to admit, I'm a little confused after reading all the comments. Did she or didn't she? Is this a case of jumping to conclusions? I understand the point behind the post, no one likes a copycat, but after reading Bryants comments, I wonder...am I the only one a little lost?

Chris you are so on target. This C&P has got out of hand with the growth of the network.

I am with Leigh spending less time her and longing for the good old days.

I agree with Suzanne about talking posts down. Just taking points away means nothing. The posts remain, the poster gets his Google juice, the public does not see the red x , and AR is littered with a slew of cloned material diluting the value of the AR brand.

I feel strongly that leaving stolen posts on AR makes NO SENSE. Let's just reward bad behavior and show a poor face to the public. Why don't I just go down to the Mall and steal some goods....and see if they'll just slap my wrists and then let me walk away with the merchandise!!  Come on !

Also think about the possibility that at some point all this plagiarized material could be a cause of legal action against this network!

About the Realty Times.   I think it's fair to say that we who care don't care if the subscribers have permission to use it or not. This Network is about posting original content!  ......What if every member of AR that had a Realty Times account posted their material on here??? Maybe we would be lucky enough to have 100 or more duplicate articles on the same topic! Is this what we are striving to become on this Network??

It's up to those who care to be diligent in monitoring the Network if we don't want to go down the tubes.

When I started here last year, I did not have a clue what a blog was and posted some info from the Fed Gov site (not copyrighted) Scott Daniel commented this was a No-No. I took them down.

Why don't we follow Scott's example. If it's a newbie C&P we can email privately. If it continues then Comment on the plagiarists posts.. and post the original source link in the comment: "Like Hey I just read this on Homegain...LINK Guess you didn't know that's against the rules" ....

Or we could just send Tony Sopranoover to make their acquaintance....LOL! mmmm....

I've unfeatured this post.  I didn't realize it was here.

I don't know the whole story on this yet but I do have a more general comment.

We often have newer members joining this community, and those members often make mistakes.  My hope is that with this community we can welcome new members.  Please remember that new members don't have the benefit of having already learned these lessons.

Thank you,

Great post!  (One of the first posts I read was made by a loan officer and was obviously cut and pasted from another resource.)

I think the same goes for comments.  I notice many people who type two words and clicks submit, rushing on to the next blog so they can build up their points.

The whole idea of stealing words is stupid.  Everyone has a style.  Everyone can tell in a matter of a few lines if the blogger actually wrote it.  Furthermore, I was told Google removes these, and punishes those who plagarize, so why do they bother.  Is anyone actually getting business off of AR?  I'm not.  At least not yet, though that's part of the plan.  The other is that I LOVE to write.  I'll write about anything.  I've been doing it since I was a kid, and just the idea that someone would bother to read what I've written only fans my flames.  I'm nothing if not original.  Thanks for this venue, and keep up the vigilance.  p.s.  Lately my spell check isn't working, so please excuse my mixtakes.  What's up with that anyhow?

Hi Chris, Thanks for your nice comment on my blog today.....I love what you said here - and the photo is great to boot. I wrote my first few blogs (I am new to this) completely from my own experience.....I do also tend to save great articles and information I get regarding real estate, special interest stories etc. I did use two articles this week and posted blogs with my comments on thought on the article, and credit given to the source, but I didn't think this would be an issue, as I don't always have time to read all the articles I would like to, and enjoy when someone posts a blog with a good one. Is this considered bad Active Rain etiquette? Just curious.....
