Everybody is crunched for time nowadays. We can learn so much from a resource like Active Rain, But how do you wade through the enormous amount of information to find those posts that are useful or relevant to your own situation?
Most AR users have become familiar with the menu and clicked on BLOGS. That defaults to the most recent blogs posted from anywhere and everywhere about anything and everything. And there are definitely some gems in there. And there are probably a few lumps of coal, also. (One person's lump of coal might be another person's gem.)
What if I could make the time you spend on AR more useful and productive? Read on...
As you see a blog that falls into your useful category, then under the person's photo click on SUBSCRIBE TO BLOG. (You can always unsubscribe later if you want to.) Over time you might end up with a few dozen subscription. Your category of useful might include: a similar niche in a different region, good advice, useful news, or maybe posts that are just plain interesting. Each person will have their own definition of useful.
After you have several subscriptions, you can zero in on the posts made by your subscriptions. Click on BLOGS near the upper right. It will again default to most recent. Then click on MY SUBSCRIPTIONS. You will then only see recent posts made by your favorite AR posters. Without subscriptions, you might have to wade through a higher percentage of lumps of coal to find those gems.
But DO look at the most recent blogs. Depending on the time of day that first page might have the last few minutes of new blog posts. Or it might have closer to an hour during less-busy times. But going through a few pages of posts will almost always yield something interesting. That is a good way to find some good posts. Another way is to SEARCH on topic of interest.
So there you have it - use subscriptions to make for a better user experience.
