I wanted to write this blog to see and hear all of your thoughts.

A few months ago I attended a seminar from Tom Ferry, a California based coach. I am still not sure if he is or isn't related to Mike Ferry. Would seem odd if he isn't. I ended up signing up for the coaching as I feel I needed a kickstart and to be held accountable as I got off track of my business. I have now been with the program for 4 weeks or so.

A few weeks later I attended a seminar for Sales Success Strategy Group. I ended up signing up for that one as well. Terry Granahan was the speaker. Their approach is basically market towards your sphere, offering them value  as an information source, not just a Realtor. As I read more books, similar to what Mike Ferry has taught.

A few days ago, I attended a Craig Proctor seminar, and guess what...signed up for that one too.

I am writing this blog to hear all of your opinions on these programs, if you've signed up, other programs, the pros/cons, really any information.

Presently, I feel 1 program offers a great how to structure your business, and follow it kind of style so you can now feel like it is a business in which you are charge of mentality; something I have lacked, and now am grateful to have.

The other is more of a what to do to get leads, and manage time better.

The last one is more of how to get qualified leads and close them.

Anxious to hear your responses.

Wow, you are a seminar holders dream.

I have not done any of the ones you have talked about.  been to their sales bit but no signed up for the paid part.

I did do coaching for a while and if you have the right coach it can be really great.  In my case it was not a great fit, but I still got benefit from it so I would still recommend trying coaching.

I have this program that I would like you to sign up for.  (Just kidding)

Tom is Mike Ferry's son.  They used to work together as a team, but went seperate ways a few years ago.

I have been involved in various coaching programs and find that each has something from which to learn.  None of them is the "end all".  They all have strengths and weaknesses.

You will be a better person and businessman for your participation.  Don't be too concened what others think.  Do what works for you.

Signed up and attended many. I use Skip Weisman of Weisman Success Resources. He is my coach and hosts the Business Achievement Gym. I have found him to be extremely helpful. I schedule a regular coaching call and participate in weekly group calls. I can do so from my car or wherever I am.

Coaching works as well as you work. Set realistic expectations and follow through on your goals. You can find out about Skip at http://www.weismansucessresources.com

Best of luck.

Hi, Dan & James: I'm not that big of a sucker..hehee. This was the first time in my career that I wanted to actually spend money as me as an agent and improve, which is why I have done what I bought. In other words, I've spent money on remodeling homes, but why not spend that same money on me, so I can be a better agent, and in turn buy more homes, make more $, sell more homes, etc.

I think all of them can be great. I am so far dissappointed with SSG as our coach is not even in real estate, as I understand it.

There obviously is a cost with each of them, and that is expensive, but in the end, if that 1 or 2 pieces of info I can pick up will allow me to perform better, it's probably worth it. I look forward to hearing from you and everyone else. And, no, I won't buy the program for you. ;-)

I'm kind of where you are.  I hit a bunch of the free teasers.  I just haven't bit for the paid events much... although I have done Hobbs/Herder's MegaMarketing.  I plan on doing more, and we are in the process of building a budget right now.

Lane, was the Hobbs program worth it?

I have attended some way in the dark ages of the 80's. They are still mostly selling the same program today that was available then. It does pay off in most cases to help put your mind back in the game.

Blair, I have not attended any of the seminars you mention, however, my wife - once a real estate broker also - attended and participated heavily in a mentoring program in the mid-1990's.  It was a lot of good information, and cost a lot of money.  It seems that with each step, there was a bigger step.  When it was all said and done, the real bottom line is FIND SOMETHING IN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PROSPECTING AND SELLING THAT WORKS WELL FOR YOU AND DO IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART.  Technology has made a lot of things easier so that you can multiply your efforts with the click of the mouse.  Most of the technology innovations are learned in the marketplace as well as in the seminar.  But there is a difference in cost.

Good luck with all of those.  Your success is pretty much pre-determined by YOUR effort to discover a better way to do the business.  Keep cool.

Hmmm, I agree with Bob. I think the fundamentals of what they are teaching you are extraordinarily valueable, but I think they can also try and keep taking you to the next level of cost for more information. You are smart enough to know where to draw the line and what to cling onto to increase your focus on developing long term business goals in conjunction with a daily plan that allows you to easily balance productive efforts while allowing time for yourself. Balance is key. Just like the saying "work smarter, not harder"...The highest paid/producing people I know are NOT the 7 day a weekers, sleeping in their offices. They are balanced with daily scheduled events and equal time for friends and family. It keeps you fresh. But, I'm not telling you anything you don't know cuz as we all know, (especially me as your sales manager)...YOUR SPIDEY! and YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! You are absolutely on the right track and I think some of the comments to this blog were hilarious. We have some FUNNY agents out there don't we!
