So the move to Northern Maine, relocation, retirement plans have been made and suddenly a wrinkle.
Experts who have never been beyond Portland Maine if at all are gathering around, questioning you, wondering about your Maine real estate plans. My advice? Talk to folks that have been to Maine, read the book, seen the movie. It's like asking someone what they thought of the new Italian, Chinese, Western Beef Restaurant and even though they have never eaten there either, just like you, you ponder their opinion, belief, rant.
What good is that advice, reflection on here say, or just a guess, review based on nothing, or not very much except a little grapeline communications? Also, there are many states in the country. Some are smaller size wise like Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Delaware. Maine is never on the list of smaller size states.
Maine's size means lots of "channels", different turf options from the rock bound ME coast with lobsters, lighthouses, sea coast backdrop.
Or the Maine image photo slide show carousel shifts to a scene at Aroostook County. Rolling fertile fields, thick woods, clean lakes.
The next slide shows a more mountainous, river studded south western terrain around Sugarloaf Mountain. Or (click, flash) showing Mount Katahdin at Baxter State Park. Or (click, flash) the St John River Valley Acadian Festival.
Now on the screen spills images of the Old Port section of Portland Maine, downtown Bangor / Brewer, Lewiston / Auburn and lots of small town community living photos as the slide show picks up steam.
The point, Maine is one big state with lots of outdoor recreation venues, communities, events to bone up on, learn about and share with others.
So when someone frowns, makes an surprised "O" when you cue them in your are grabbing your coat, heading to Maine, one question needs to be raised by you. "Have you ever been to Maine?" No? No further questions. Your witness counselor. Get real witnesses, folks that have been lucky enough to have been here. A lot. Or at all.
