A few weeks ago Arthur and I visited the National Museum Of The Marine Corps to see the new exhibits that had just opened a week earlier.

Semper Fidelis Chapel at National Museum of the Marine Corps

Since I had never seen the newly built and non- denominational Semper Fidelis Chapel we decided to visit it as well. Its' design is symbolic of field chapels built by Marines during campaigns. My husband started to take my picture when a woman seated at the rear of the chapel asked if we wanted our photo together.

After she snapped the photo we inquired if this was her first visit to the chapel. She told us she is a frequent visitor - she enjoys the peaceul atmosphere where she can sit and reflect on her son's life and service to our country. Sergeant Joshua Frazier was killed in Irag in 2007 a few months before his 25th birthday. Like many, he had volunteered to return to Iraq.

She mentioned how much comfort she has received from the relationship she has with the other Marines who served with her son. In her words, "Marines truly are a Band of Brothers". As we left she asked us to take a look at the rear of her car. We did, returned and received her permission to photograph it and use it in a blog honoring her son's service to America.

We are confident both Sergeant Frazier and his mother acknowledge the contribution made by men and women of all branches of the armed services since July 4, 1776. However, my former Marine husband and I would be remiss if we didn't shout out a loud

Karen, how appropriate that you honored Sergeant Frazier and his family with this post on the Fourth of July.  We have so much to be thankful for living in this country and may we never lose sight of the sacrifice that so many have given to provide us with our freedoms.

Karen,

I missed this the other day. Thanks for a wonderful remembrance of a fallen hero, Joshua Frazier. He gave all so we can continue to celebrate holidays.
