I love living in Cape Coral Florida, and for over 10 years The City of Cape Coral and the business communtiy come together to honor the birth of our nation in an annual Independence Day fireworks festival known as Red, White & BOOM!! It is the biggest single day event in the city and also the biggest July 4th display in Southwest Florida!

Held at the foot of the Cape Coral Bridge on Cape Coral Parkway this years event promises to be a day filled with patriotic fun. Come by boat, car, or on foot, the expected 20,000+ citizens will enjoy the Spirit of America Cape Coral style....from a "free fun zone" for the kids with inflatable bounce houses, climbing walls and obstacle courses and over 100 vendors of food, drinks, novelty items, jewelry, arts & crafts along with free giveaways and drawings. And don't forget the live entertainment at the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stage featuring national recording act "Trailer Choir". A special Red White & Boom 15 minute program will honor our leaders and heroes just before the main fireworks show.
This year, the Cape Coral Bridge will be closed two hours earlier, starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Then it will reopen at 3 a.m.
Let's just hope the weather improves. As of the writing of this piece 6:30pm, it's been rainy and soggy. Now that hasn't stopped the citizens from enjoying the party, lets just hope it doesn't prevent the awesome fireworks show.
