I sat and listened to a self professed "brainiac" the other day talk about the rising number of foreclosures. The conversation was innocent enough, but he then started to tell me how undisciplined "these people" are/were and basically it was their fault.

Maybe your experience is different, but MINE says MOST of these FAMILIES hit some hard times. MOST of these FAMILIES thought they were getting a pretty good deal two or three years ago. MOST are struggling and honest and decent poeple.

When you PRAY today/tonight, please lift up these FAMILIES who are facing foreclosure. PRAY for the mothers, fathers and their children. PRAY that even though life seems to be closing in on them, GOD does have a plan.

Thanks,

 Rhonda Meredith

Rhonda, I agree with you.  I know there's a big debate about whether the government should bail these people out and I'm not for the government doing that necessarily but darn it, I do wish there would be a crack down on these lenders who mislead and I do wish the news media would focus on the root of the problem which in my opinion are lenders who take advantage of these people.  They know darn well if a person understands or doesn't understand what they are signing.  Now, granted there is and should be some accountability on behalf of the person seeking the loan but I'm sick and tired of all the dishonesty that goes on in our industry.  Good Realtors need to help buyers by referring them to truly reputable and credible lenders.  I represented a highly intelligent, very successful business man recently and even he had to tell the lender to talk in layman terms.  He used his professional lingo on her to show her how it feels.  It was a very good demonstration by the buyer and the words that came out of his mouth sounded just like double talk.  She got the point right away.   Good post.

Rhonda,

Thank you for the reminder that these foreclosures are more than just statistics. I will certainly add these poor people to my prayer list.

Thanks to all. I felt it needed to be said. I suppose we should pray for the "brainiac" too.........

The thought of being foreclosured brings about much stress. Praying for those in this situation is the least we can do. Actually, it's the most.

You are so right.  Everyone's reason for facing closure is not the same.  While some people just did ill-advised things to buy homes in a hot market, some people were blatantly misled and deceived by people who just wanted commissions from their transactions.  Perhaps real life tragedy struck...death, loss of job, etc.  Nonetheless, what ever the cause...foreclosure is a tough pill to swallow and all those who are having to deal with it...should be covered by our prayers.
