Stonequist Apartments Residents have just found out they will be saying goodbye to some of their best friends. Stonequist will no longer allow birds as part of their new strict no pets policy. To many residents their birds have become the most important things in their life's.
Stonequist lease agreements has a no pets policy in every agreement however until now it has not been enforced with birds. Saratoga Springs Housing Authority Director, Ed Spychalski, has claimed "We have our priorities". He continues in saying "It has become an issue."
Ed Spychalski is concerned as it is a sanitary issue. He regular deals with matters as people not paying rent, violations with in-clause, and criminal activity. According to Spychalski, approximately two dozen birds are living in the apartments. He is concerned with the noise, cleanliness, and risk of disease from the birds.

Stonequist, is a 10 story rental complex, federally regulated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. A no pets clause was initially instated because of the building be a high rise, animals can not come and go as they can in other developments.
Door to door inspections are expected to begin on Wednesday. Residents found with a bird will be subject to court action, as it is a violation of their lease.
