American Heart Association's
Essex County Start! Heart Walk
will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010
at the ADP Corporate Campus in Roseland
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #3 causes of death in NEW JERSEY.
Then I come to read at Start! Heart Walk - Why We Walk that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of ALL Americans? In fact, someone dies from CVD every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. Both of those stats are really frightening for New Jersey residents and Americans.
About 8 years ago, my dad had a quadruple bypass. The doctors said he was a walking time bomb and we didn't even know it. Had he had a heart attack before his tests were complete, he would've never lived through it. My grandfather (my dad's dad) died at the age of 60 right in the doctor's office. He got up to die out his cigarette! Imagine that - at the doctor's office -- smoking!!
In any event, come out and join thousands in the fight against heart disease and stroke by supporting lifesaving research and education on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at ADP Corporate Campus, 1 ADP Boulevard, Roseland, NJ 07068 at the American Heart Association's 2010 Essex County Start! Heart Walk.
