Well, many people do anyway.  I thought I would share a few of my favorite photo's from the Moose Lake, Minnesota parade from this year.  Moose Lake is near our cabin and we go to this great small town parade most every year.

First the color guard.  Notice the hats off and hands on the heart.  It was this way as far as you could see with everyone standing.  This community still understands!!!!

A community band.  A bunch of local folk playing whatever instrument they know how.  Were they good?  Does it really matter?  They were playing for their community!!!

This was my favorite.  This jalopy was built by the owner in his garage.  Much of it is PVC pipe.  It has peddles and a small gas engine!

This shows just how big our fish get here in the Nort land.  We need a tow truck to haul them around!

William, small town parades can be so much fun...........you really get to see the flavor of the city and the locals just enjoying themselves .  My Dad was the president of the local Italian/American Club for years and my Mom was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the same club............they were in the parade every year.  Mom sitting on the back of a convertible like the Homecoming Queen, waving and throwing candy to the crowd, Dad marching behind with the Men's Club..............great memories.

Great memories for me with these pictures. I still wonder what the economic base is for small town America and what the future holds.

The small towns still understand Patriotism.  People were standing befor the color guard was a blcok away and stayed standing until they were a block past.  Everyone was clapping for the entire time.

MY KIND OF PEOPLE!

There is nothing like a small town parade as it's the heart of America.
