Color For Real Estate No More - Got Any Ideas?

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Destiny Real Estate Cambridge, MA

Pink flamingo cards from Color for Real EstateColor for Real Estate was always my favorite real estate marketing company, hands down.  Funny, creative, smart - their postcards were so much better than any other companies' offerings.  My catalogs would be filled with post-its marking my favorites.

I tend to bite off more than I can chew with marketing materials.  That's my excuse at least - with stacks of unsent CFRE postcards still on my shelves I hadn't looked for new Color for Real Estate items in a good long while.

An embarrassingly long while as it turns out.

Now that I'm coming up for air business-wise I wanted to pull together a marketing plan.  Figuring that I'd take a look at what Color for Real Estate had on offer I tried to pull up their website.

No luck.  Every link I clicked on went to a Merrill webpage.

Bummer! Big bummer.  Turns out Merrill bought Color for Real Estate - in 2004!! (told ya I had a big stock of postcards!) and then just let the company die.

What a shame.

Are most of the real estate marketing companies kaput? When I started in real estate in 2000 I would accumulate a stack of catalogs.  I don't think I get any now.

I'm all for online endeavors but I still think there's a place for mailings. My CFRE postcards made a  successful expireds campaign for example.

Are any of you former Color for Real Estate fans?  Whether you are or not - who do you use for marketing materials?

And what on earth am I going to do with all my Famous Flamingo Club cards?!

I have a boxful of pink birds with nowhere to flock.  I just found out CRE is no more, and I am sad.  Their catalog was the BEST.  Their pet-friendly office in Lee, Ma was awesome, too.  Come back!!!!!

I am not a realtor but used Color For Real Estate for my speaking and training business ten years ago.  Loved their products and the quality stock they used.  Wanted to use them again but now realizing from this discussion group in 2012 that they have been gone for quite a while.

I now use with great success.  1000 full color double sided post cards for $86 shipped.  They have also produced beautiful 5.5 x 8.5 catalog booklets at a very reasonable price.  I highly recomment them.  Ask for Bonnie if you them.

I really like this company.

Close...but, no cigar.  Like all replacements I've found...NOTHING has shown the WIT, the snappy, sharp, intelligent words that nailed it, and brought the message home...and, that said 'this is no ordinary realtor' !  The kind of marketing that I want to be identified with.  No ho-hum, same old, routine stuff.

Sparrow and Jacobs ... are you listening?  This could make you some money...would make you stand out!

Yes, my flock flew away too.  Was bummed a few years ago and was using CFRE instead of on my own and would love to see a company like CFRE come back.  I think I might have a fish or two in my drawer.......miss you CFRE

Damnit!  I got out of real estate at the end of 2009 when the bottem fell out of the mortgage market.  I knew I would one day return.  Well this is the day.  I switched to Coldwell Banker and luckily they have a ton of marketing materials available to us.  But with a half-shaved head I like to stand out.  I went to to see about getting a new catalog and WTF?  I even found a lone flamingo in my file.  She is looking for company.  :(  CFRE always made me laugh.  As a humorist myself ( I always appreciated real estate on the edge of insanity.

I have been searching for a replacement too.

The  seems to have many things to order and do customized.

But, their prices are for larger bulk.  CFRE used to give you options and change up the order, etc...
to give more variety (for the bookmarks, for example).

I too  miss the business card labels.  I'm still using the ones I purchased years ago, with old company
information on it!  I love them so much that I put a new sticker over the old information on those stickers!!! LoL

I still have not found a company that does the beautiful Welcome Home books that we'd give as presents to our buyers at closing!

OMG...finally, an alternative!  Thanks for posting re Carol!  Its close!  and, its the closest I have found to CFRE.  For all of you, I have just reviewed their site and their inventory...truly, its quite 'close'.  They aren't as witty and sharp as CFRE used to be.  But, so close in many other ways.  I'm thinking they will get there!  There's a place in my heart for good mailers!  And, again....FINALLY!  I am grateful!

Say it isn't so! Another casualty of the melt down. The only person who will be happy about this is my now adult daughter. As a RE broker I sent out 10's of thousands of these cards over the years. It was great extra money for my then young daughter to be hired by me to put on labels. Somewhere around age 15 there was a revolt in the land of post card preperation, a labor strike! Said daughter said she couldn't look at another post card. She eventually went off strike, but the price of labor had doubled.  LOL

When I owned a real estate firm we used Color for Real Estate and I loved them. Of course, I always loved reading their catalog as well - always entertaining.

Now, as a real estate copywriter, I don't need the postcards, but I still wish they were out there, in business, doing well.

Aw, what a bummer! I loved CFRE too! I still have one of their wonderful catalogs with it's funnies and wit. Someone bring them back please! They must have made their millions if they sold out :( Hope they know how much they are missed.

Well, like you, I had not used CFRE in a while, and was anticipating that they were probably not around, like many other things that fell by the wayside when the market shifted (even if we don't attribute their demise to that, necessarily). As for Flamingoes, well, fortunately when I had the dozen, I would redeem them, and a good thing I did, it seems. Like some gift cards, if you snooze you loose.
I'm using a variety of local printers, but, those templates CFRE had made it simple, fun and easy, perhaps Merrill will do something similar down the line...

Just discovered Color for Real Estate is no longer in business. Like all the other comments listed I agree. They were the best. Why do all the good things disappear? If anyone comes up with a comparable company, please let me know.

I found a real estate print site called
that offers print services for Just Sold Postcards, business cards, and flyers.
It pulls listings and photos from HAR using your MLS #. Pretty neat, easy to use. I love it. The template selection is small, but its a great site to use.

I am so bummed! Was ready to place an order and --- NO, NO, say it's not so. Loved that company and cannot believe someone has not come back with something similar.

It is all depends on the style a person likes. Some like mute or natural colors, some prefer bright and happy.

What..? It has NO relation or connection to 'colors'! The product is missed for its brilliance in the composition with normal word usage, shaped into humor, and with good taste and always a compelling call to action. Head and shoulders above the usual ploys.Still have never found one with this exceptional content quality. :(
