It took SIX HOURS—was it worth it?

Jay & Boomer in Front of Silverthorn’s Again in spirit, Boomer & I are enjoying our mugs of organically & shade-grown, fair-trade, French Roast coffee this morning on the boardwalk of Silverthorn’s Café.

Last Sunday, I decided it was time for Boomer to learn how to do graphics. He, with some reluctance agreed. I asked that he draw a car to add to the tow-truck and old time car I had drawn earlier.

So, he set out to draw his own car. After about four hours of attempting to “get it right,” and some language I dare not repeat, as it may offend the ears of our Gentle Readers, Boomer abruptly stood up from his desk, grabbed his camera went outside and photographed his car.

“You can’t use a jpeg—too much photo shopping involved,” I told him.

“Just watch, y’old coot, I have an idea.” He replied with a smile.

A relatively short two hours later, after cropping the jpeg, dumbing it down and copying it to the Word document, and then outlining the car—viola! A cyber-car was born!

Question: Is this going to be like, The Boomer and Jay version of the Bat-Mobile? Knightrider? LOL You'll need to make a wristwatch so you can communicate with your car now. See the can of worms you opened? :)

Love it. Isn't it amazing what can be created with deft use of a graphics program or Word???? I'm an old fashioned free hand drawer since first grade elementary school myself. But, I can make image programs dance.

This is a great example.

Good for you! You are the graphics masters! Can you do a Corvair? Please....

Peep: The car is known as "Lumpy"after a hail storm back in 2000 severely damaged the car (since repaired). It will play no active part in the series.

Lenn: Word will accept a very small jpeg, so that's how Boomer was able to trace the various parts. Then it went to Publisher to be combined with the backgound jpeg. I had Boomer do all the steps except the final tweaking for publication. I've seen your work..."dance" is an understatement.

Allison: Yes but need a photo, preferably directly from the side, front, or rear, the drawing program is not well-suited for perspective.

George: And I was unaware of it being her birthday! It was in the character pipeline for a while, and I managed to get it done on Boomer & my drawing day on Sunday.

Unlike Jay, I actually have to WORK for a living, and although my employer provides a great place to work, my request for a laptop, or at least a Blackberry, has been rejected—they think I can’t drive & blog!
