If you're looking for some summertime entertainment, why not support your local County Fair?
Here in Southeast Iowa, the local county fair is a summertime staple. You don't have to be involved personally to enjoy the sites, sounds, (and smells?) of the county fair. People of all ages can enjoy the exhibits, contests and shows beginning in the am. and heading late into the evening. Just this afternoon, we took the kids to the Lee County Fair in Donnellson, Iowa to see the livestock, walk thru the petting zoo and enjoy the activities. They were even fortunate enough to take in the Nick Kid's show as they sported their free balloons from the Red Cross volunteers. Yes, it was hot, we all got thirsty and they slept all the way home, but it's just one of those memories that's worth making! There is a good chance we'll head back that direction, adults only, for the races and a concert in the near future.
If you haven't done it yet this summer, get out and support your local county fair. It's an easy and fun summertime memory. The following are fairs coming up here in Southeast Iowa...Henry Co. fair in Mt. Pleasant - July 11-17...Van Buren Co. fair in Keosauqua - July 14-19...Washington Co. fair in Washington - July 18-23... Johnson Co. fair in Iowa City - July 26-29...DesMoines Co. fair in West Burlington - July 28- Aug. 3 and Monroe Co. fair in Albia - July 29 - Aug. 2
