One of my favorite places in New Hampshire for downright yummy goodies made right here in my own home state is The Brick Store in Bath, New Hampshire.  Bath, NH is known as the "Covered Bridge Capital" of New England, and quite possibly of the country.  Bath is a tiny little town with a population of only 790 residents, but what a scenic place to visit.

Tiny as Bath is, they can brag about 3 very special covered bridges in their village.  The Bath Village Covered Bridge is the longest covered bridge in NH, 400 feet long.  It was built in 1832, restored in 1988, and is nicknamed the "Kissing Bridge".  The Bath-Haverhill Covered Bridge is the oldest operating covered bridge in America.  This bridge was built with a separate covered passageway for pedestrians, which very few covered bridges had.  The Swiftwater Covered Bridge, built in 1810 and rebuit in 1999, is one of the most picturesque in all of New England.  More than likely, when you see calendars with scenes of New England, this particular covered bridge is routinely pictured.

So, back to the reason for my post......if you like good smoked meats, in particular smoked pepperoni, you HAVE to try The Brick House's Smoke Pepperoni.  It is SO GOOD!!!  When we first found this little gem of a store, we bought a small package that had some sliced pepperoni in it.  We bought a few other things, and then headed out to find a piece of land we were up there looking for.  Well, no sooner had we pulled out of the parking lot, we had eaten every single piece of that pepperoni.  We had to stop back by and buy STICKS of it instead of the small packages of sliced pepperoni.  And we've been ordering it online ever since.  I give it as gifts as well.  When it arrives at my house, it smells so yummy, I want to eat it all right then and there!  Oh boy, this is THE BEST you will ever eat........  A little secret - it freezes really well!! Their homemade fudges are yummy, too......flavorful and really creamy, but it's the Smoked Pepperoni that we spend our money on!

The Brick Store is America's oldest continuosly operated general store, and it's listed in the National Register of Historic Places.  This store has been in business since the 1790's, and used to serve as the local post office until 1942.  Alot of the original features still remain, some of the original post office boxes are still there, and you can still see on the outside walls some of the old painted advertising for Morrison's English Liniment and Lady Poor's Ointment.  Some of the interior features still remaining are the slanted shelves of the old front counters.  This allowed the ladies in their hoop skirts to step up close enough to the counter to see the merchandise in the display cases.

If you ever get a chance, do stop by this wonderful little store.  There are all kinds of treats waiting for you inside, and there's a great little ice cream shop next door as well.  Once you've stocked up on delicious goodies, you can make your way around to all the covered bridges in the area.  What a beautiful and scenic area of New Hampshire.....well worth the trip!!

Enjoy!!

Dena, thanks so much for reading my post......and I'm glad you enjoyed it!  That smoked pepperoni is simply so good that if you do order some, you'll continue to order it.  I ordered some myself this afternoon, which is what prompted me to do that post.  I can't wait for it to arrive!!  :-)
