I don’t hold open houses in Beaverton, Oregon really anymore, mainly because I like to be able to spend time with my family and I no longer work on Sundays. But, I do have agents in my office and on my team that are willing to hold my houses open for me and I help them in any way I can.(OK, my wife does.)
One of the ways she does that is she makes small single serving loaves of banana bread for the agent to take to the listing. Not only does it help make the house smell real nice, it makes an emotional connection with the buyer’s senses.
Now, every time a buyer in Beaverton leaves that leaves one of my teams open houses, they are going to leave with a flyer and a loaf of bread with a picture of the house and the contact information from that agent.A win-win for everyone involved. The seller gets their house helped open for more exposure, I possibly get the house sold because of a visitor, and the owner comes home to a wonderful smelling home and one last large loaf left for them.
I have sold two homes this way inthe past two years in Beaverton, at least when I was the one holding them open, and we are starting this up again this weekend. Now considering that only about 1% of homes are sold because of open houses I would say 2 in the last two years is great because that averages out to about 3.7% based on the number of homes I’ve held open in the last two years. What is your agent doing to get your home sold?
