HELP! My blog and my website are attracting people..GREAT! but wait, read on...

We have all had this..as Realtors we ALWAYS answer our cell phones UNLESS we are busy with a client, then we wait...

However lately my calls have been from a different type of "prospect", the people trying to sell me something!

I have been bombarded with calls from the telemarketers trying to sell me zip codes, website placement help etc...They get my number from my website.

This is becoming annoying at this point and I will NEVER buy anything in this manner. If I was interested in such services I would look up the best fit for me on the net...I never try to be rude to the telemarketers, we all need to make a living, but this is becoming the same as SPAM, but cell phone telemarketing is costing us money, air time and it is just annoying. BTW, my cell phone is on the "no call " list!

My question is this, what have you done (if anything) to stop this annoying calls? We must pick up our phone, it is our job!

For most of these calls, calling number does not show up on the caller ID. So, I don't answer any call where number does not show up. For the calls I pick up, I politely tell them I am not interested and end the call. In my experience"no call" list isn't much help. One can make a complaint against the caller, but who has the time to go through the hassle.

Not a whole lot you can do unless you want to waste your time making a complaints against every caller. I would only do this if the same company has repeatedly called after you have told them to stop.

I usually recognize that the number coming up has a different area code than most near my area and simply don't pick up. If it is a serious potential client they should leave a message.

Dave, I'm getting those calls too and it makes me crazy that they call my cell phone. I have a tough time not answering because I have so many out of town clients that I don't want to miss.

Good question! I answer calls regardless of whether I know who they are and what number/area code they are calling from.  I'm a virtual assistant so it would be difficult to decipher which are legitimate calls and which are not.  I figure it's all a part of doing business (much like credit card charges), so I answer, listen to their pitch and politely say no.  If nothing else, I'm helping them by providing them with more experience in making cold calls.

My favorite are the search engine placement calls.  "How did you find me?".   ROFL!   I also like the "would you like to take your business to the next level?"  Who would say no?  I did yesterday.  I told the lady to find me a nice renter's assistant who is licensed, a hard worker and works 7 days a week.   Really, I am sorry, I am not interested works for the most part.  If it doesn't then it is :click:
