Mukilteo Washington is one of Snohomish County's best places to live for multiple reasons. It is home to some of the best views in Washington, it offers a vibrant downtown and it just plain fun to visit. The town is home to one some of the states largets ferry commuter and travel destinations and it easy to see why.

Known as a lighthouse community, Mukilteo commemorates its heritage with an annual Light Celebration and this year marked the 100th year of the festival. Keeping true to tradition, it is easy to see why people are so drawn to this area. From the docks a person can see the ferry system at work, view epic views of the Puget Sound and get a first hand glimpse of the clarity in Washington's water.

I recommend anyone to visit Mukilteo and make their first stop at Ivars. They offer a true Washington menu complete with three kinds of chowder, tradition white, red and my favorite, smoked salmon chowder. Being a seafood community, Ivars combines great food with exceptional service with one of a kind views.

After loading up with great food, take some time to walk the beach and play in the park is big enough for dogs to run, people to play football or just toss a frisbee around. Locals love to sit in lawn chairs while having the finishing pole bobbing in the water. Take some time to visit Mukilteo because you won't be disappointed.

Toby, my great aunt and uncle used to live on the bluff overlooking the sound. Great memories there!

Smoked Salmon chowder? YUM!

You make Mukilteo a wonderful place. I love water and I love lighthouses - you have them both in that charming area.

Great pictures, very postcard. I love lighthouses.  I'm sure we'll have one here eventually.  After all, we already have the statue of liberty, eithel tower, a pyramid, castle and the NY skyline.... -Charles

Mukilteo is a fun town to spend the day just relaxing. It feels like a town up north called Laconner.

This summer (2009), I have spent a lot of time out in Mukilteo. Not by car either. My family and friends have been taking our boats there for afternoon cocktails and food. It is so much and is shorter to get their by boat than it is by car. If you have a chance to visit it you will be happy you did.
