Central NC real estate business environment

Most everything I read in the national papers looks scary.  Thanks to God that's only in the national reports.  It is true that real estate here has slowed from what it was in the past few years.  However from my talks with seasoned agents, they are saying that this business climate is not new. Things seemed to have returned to a natural flow as life's cycles work.

It is true that many have never seen a market this bad. Honestly, if someone has been selling real estate for 5-6 years, they may not have. My experience has been in the mortgage business during that same time frame.  Honestly, I got in like a lot of folks during the last huge boom. That was good for a rookie.  It was bad for many though.  Many made a killing without earning it.

If you look at a lot of mutual fund managers that started in the years before 9/11, you will see the same thing. Superstars were born in a time when any risk was good. When the tech boom crashed and the nation went into shock from the attacks, many of those stock fund Superstars went away never to be heard from again.

Thanks to my foresight though, I started making realty connections from day one.  I figured that regardless of rates, people still would be moving here for our growing economy. It has panned out exactly that way.  My business has done nothing but grow.

Many of the best and most successful realtors out there have done the same. Every year they are at the top of the heap. You have to respect that. The difference in a good, lucky agent and a successful long term agent is in the attitude.

Right now, the best ones are still doing what they have always done.  They are still talking to people everywhere and making alliances.  Yes, they may be holding more open houses and attending more networking events, but its the same old, just turned up a notch.  I appreciate that.

As for me, I have never seen a market this good.  In the next month, I will be the preferred realtor for at least one neighborhood with home prices starting at $500K. Another ally is working on two more starting around $150K.  I have found that by adding value to my team and growing the team, I have been able to ensure that life has never been better for anyone on my team.
