If you see golf carts drving on the streets, you must be in La Quinta! The City of La Quinta started issuing golf cart permits on May 20, 2010. Residents with golf carts registered with the City of La Quinta are allowed to drive their golf carts to golf at SilverRock Resort, eat and shop in Old Town La Quinta village, relax at The La Quinta resort, and visit friends in La Quinta Cove.
There are 2 types of routes currently available:
On street golf cart lanes wher the golf carts travel in their own lane separated from vehicles. Portions of Avenue 52, Eisenhower Drive, Calle Tampico, and Park Avenue are designated for this type of use.
Streets in the Cove area and Old Town La Quinta village hare marked and designated for golf carts and the speed does not exceed 25 mph.
Some of the basic requirements are windshield wipers, turn signals, head lights, brake lights, and designe to carry no more than 2 people including the driver.
Permits are issues at City Hall La Quinta for $20 after completing a golf cart inspection and application.
