In my world fired can mean all kinds of things. My hubby is a firefighter, for one. I used to be a big fan of the reality T.V. show The Apprentice, but too much of a good thing means the show gets "fired" from my DVR and often times a consumer fires another agent to hire me or fires me and lists with someone else or better yet, sometimes I fire clients. Ooey gooey. The whole topic of "should I stay or should I go?" or "should I keep 'em or let 'em go?" can be a roller coaster, because the goal here in our business is not only to serve well, but keep the eyes on the prize of referral business.
We do all come with not only our level of expertise, way of communicating, style of working, and ability to walk and chew gum at the same time, but our personality. Not to mention our need to prioritize and manage the busy and slow times so our family still knows what we look like... that is my biggest goal! Thus sometimes referring out (or firing, if you don't even want to refer them) is necessary. And, yip, sometimes I get canned, too.
The combo of styles, personalities, time available, the prices consumers expect in a market that can't possibly perform well enough for you to keep your job and all that can mix like oil and vinegar, which can be complimentary or not... you know what I mean. Point is, you can get fired for nothing, really.
This weekend I had the pleasure of showing a buyer who fired her agent for nothing. I'm kidding. But she has no particular reason. She didn't click with the other agent, primarily. She doesn't feel 100% represented. She likes my explanations of market data better. Today as I showed her I realized her former agent did nothing necessarily wrong, new client confession. It made me grateful for the business -- I feel like I got lucky. It made me reflect on the past at times when I was "let go" (me, not fired... ha) and it made me happy to know this new one.
Now... I hope she is easy and not one of those who fired someone because they were not Tom Cruise and could not accomplish mission impossible! Because I'm not up for MIs, either. I'm kidding, dear neighbor. Great to show today and hoping I work out the things the other one didn't.
The home photographed is the home I showed my new client today and it also happens to be my listing at 216 Roy Lane, Keller, TX 76248.
