Health Care Coverage: Which insurance provider do you utilize, and why?

Just wanted to take a survey to see which Health Care Insurance some of my Active Rain friends use, and why?

I use Anthem Blue Cross, on their Tonik program.  It is a very competitively priced PPO Insurance program.

I was thinking about going over to Kaiser Permanente for a while, but then after I FINALLY found a doctor that I really like (who seems to care and where I don't feel like I'm on a conveyer belt with a price tag on my forehead) I decided to stay with my present insurance.

I've heard that the National Association of Realtors has a group insurance plan, but I don't know too much about it.

How do you like your health insurance program?  What are some of the good or bad things about it?

Anthem Blue Cross, same as you. My monthly fee is $180 where Kaiser through the California Association of Realtors was $327 a month. Big savings.

We also have Blue Cross......I am grateful that my husband's employer offers it at a reasonable price for their employees and their families.

Since my husband and I both have had cancer, we can't find an affordable insurance.  I have been looking for awhile, and many of them say they will cover everything excluding the prexisting condition....or that the condition won't be covered for 18 months. I checked with the National Association of Realtors and it was an ok plan, just not affordable in our situation.  I am still looking as we need to keep up on our meds and check ups!  Medical Insurance has been a big issue for many self employed Americans who have had prexisting condtions.  If anyone knows of an affordable plan....PLEASE let us know!

Janis,

Hopefully the new laws that the Obama Adminstration having started putting into place will eliminate the discrimination your a facing due to pre-existing conditions.

I've been told that it should be in place for adults in the next 2 years.
