Why Are Hyper Local Posts So Important?

There have been discussions that have come up before about why doing hyper local posts is important, especially when Bob incentivizes everybody.

However, it's said the proof is in the pudding, and I believe we can see the evidence of what hyper local posting does by looking at analytics, phone calls, etc.  I have received many phone calls, emails, leads and clients as a result of writing hyper local posts.

I know that it's important, and was reminded this again on the 5th of July.  I have done several posts about 4th of July events, and when I reviewed my top 5 posts the day after the Fourth, I discovered that every sinlge one of them was about the Fourth.

Take a look at the graphic below, and the next time you wonder if you should be doing hyper local posts, you'll realize just how important they are to you and you future clients.

Couldn't agree more. Every one of my hyper-local posts gets a front page Google return on investment. Yes, I am NOT getting the Generic "...location...Real Estate" hits, but I'm getting responses from those who enter the proverbial "long tail search". I'll take 'em!

Hi Christine. I just joined AR and I am new to blogging. (I have yet to write my first blog.) And once again, thanks to you and others like you on AR, I just learned something new called "Hyper Local Posts". Thanks for sharing.

Christine....I believe that localism posts definitely get the attention of the public.  It is just another way to get your name infront of people, and that has to be good.

Hi Christine. I'm glad that your post was featured because far too often some people lose sight of the power of hyperlocal content. This serves as a good reminder.

I've noticed that my hyperlocal posts get more views and clicks than anything!  Remember to be selfish, and put the 'Call to Action' buttons on the page and throughout the text to capture the leads in addition to the views.

Thank you for the post, I have not really gotten as far as the hyperlocal post, but as I read down the comments too, that has helped immensely.  Thank you for the post and thanks to everyone for the comments.

Christine,

Our business is changing and people are not searching for real estate agents but local information.

Christine - I get quite a few calls/emails every week from consumers in my market (LA/Ventura counties) looking for more info on affordable mortgage options.  Because I like to track my leads, I ask every single person how they heard about me and if they say through my AR blog, I will ask them about any particular post that appealed to them.

A very large percentage of the people who contact me were the direct result of some hyper-local post on my blog.  Oddly enough, I do get a few that will tell me that it was some comment I left on someone elses post that they like - GO FIGURE!

Anyway, the point is (I really do have one) is that it's my hyper-local posts that are driving people to contact me and so those are the posts that I need to focus on doing more of.  My blog is predominantly hyper-local posts, which don't garner a lot of attention from the AR community (SO WHAT - they're not the audience I'm targeting) but what they do get is a lot of attention from consumers in my local market looking for affordable loan options.  THAT'S WHO I BLOG FOR!

Yes, the 4th of July did draw a lot of search traffic. It's funny how certain topics will do that. My best results were last fall blogging about the Oklahoma City Parade of Homes.

I think hyperlocal blogging is not that important below the city level, as long as the city/town is relatively small.  In the case of my town, Los Altos, there isn't that much difference between the north and south ends of town.  The differences that do exist probably don't warrant specifically blogging about as they don't change much.

In larger towns with major differences from one area to another, then I agree that hyper-local blogging is a good idea.
