Photos from Red Lodge Rodeo and July 4th Parade - Red Lodge, Montana (Part 1)

Here are the first 15 photos of the parade.   These were taken on Saturday, July 3, 2010

I will have more photos online in the next week.  I have a feeling this will be at least a 5 parts series of photo posts (if I stick to 15 photos per post).   Stay tuned!

Hi Gerry - Red Lodge had a great 4th of July parade this year.  The vehicle with the four track "wheels" is rather unique.  What is it used for?  Are you going to do a comparison of the folks who appeared in last year's parade to this year's parade?  I wonder if we, up here in Canada, have anys flag that are as big as the American flag in the parade.

Juli,

At least it is reassuring to know that these bikes are not on the street regularly (just for special occasions).  :)

Mike,

I will get around to post more photos of the parade when time allows.  I just got back from Yellowstone and I will also be posting a series of posts to also share some of the beautiful photos taken at the first national park.

Tony and Darcy,

They sure let nut-thing stand in their way to make a big (or should I stay tall) appearance at this year's parade.  :)

Vegas Bob,

I got a better shot of the soldiers and the huge US flag at last year's July 4th parade.  You can check it out by clicking on the following link: Red Lodge Rodeo of Champions 2009 Parade  .  The photo with the huge US flag in the 2009 parade is slide #4 out of 15.

Thank you for the feature!   I find myself expressing myself a lot with photos here on AR and you got the perfect group to post my photos on.  :)

Paul,

We have LOTS of parade here in Red Lodge.  The town just loves to have parades for all kinds of occasions.  Most are not as big as the parade on July 4th (some parades caught me by surprise as I did not know about them nor expected to see one on some days) but they are all very interesting to watch!   Thank you for making me smile with your question.  :)

Marc,

I assume you are referring to photo #12 of 15.  I expect it was used in the army at some point and layed to rest to make special appearances at parades such as this one.   Then again it might have been customized and modified from it initial use to catch more attention and the curiosity of people at the parade (as well as those online looking at the photo).  :)

No, I will not be spending any time analyzing/comparing people at this year's parade versus last year's parade.  I will have my hands full enough in the next few weeks trying to find the time to post more photos of this year's parade as well as photos of my latest trip to Yellowstone.   If you want to volunteer and do the analysis, you are more than welcome.  In fact, I got the previous two year's worth of parade photos (check the following links):

It would be interesting to know if they do make flags in Canada as big as the one shown in the parade and held by the American soldiers.   If they did or do make a Canadian flag as big in the near future, they would probably come up with a bigger US flag as they are big on flags here in the US.
