Cool Cash Rebates from Clark PUD!

Clark Public Utilities offers rebates of $1500 and $750 for qualified heat pumps.  Visit their website for more information.

Meanwhile, simple low cost and sustainable(!) actions can minimize or eliminate the need for energy consuming cooling:

  • Open windows, and doors if safe, when evening comes and allow the naturally cool outside air cool your home.  In the morning, say when the outside temperature equals the indoor temperature, close the windows and doors to keep the hot air out and cool air in.
  • Looking down the road, plant deciduous trees on the sunny side of your house. The leaves will cast the shade to cool your house in summer and shed in winter, allowing the sun to heat your roof.  Clever, no?  I say plant a fruit or nut tree and get extra benefit of the harvest!
  • Don't use your oven or dryer or other heat producing appliances during the day.
  • Consider awnings to shade windows that are collecting too much sun.

Don't forget the federal government is also having some incentives going on right now to buy a high efficiency heater for your home.

There are now some fantastic opportunities to get energy upgrades built into the mortgage. This could change the way homes are listed. Imagine being able to prove that by doing some up-front upgrades to things like furnace, insulation, and duct sealing (as examples) your monthly expenses for a new home owner would be lower. You can now prove this and offer it as an differentiation between your listing and all others on the street. See why and how at the special Realtor section of our the www.SwiftsureEnergy.com website. Make sure you watch the video's. You'll be glad you did.
