Current Number of Homes Active and Under Contract in the Washington DC area:


Here is the breakdown as of July 12th, 2010

 

While the number of homes UNder Contract has dropped sharply; the number of homes Actively for sale has changed VERY little; and continue to remain near 3-year lows.

 


Here are the number of homes on the market including the number of homes that were taken Off (EXPIRED) the market last week.

 



Washington DC

Single Family:      Actives: 1497         Expired: 10           Under Contract: 710

Condos:               Actives: 1290         Expired: 9             Under Contract: 411  

 

Arlington County

Single Family:      Actives: 382          Expired: 1              Under Contract: 199

Condos:               Actives: 547          Expired: 10            Under Contract: 186

 

Prince Georges County

Single Family:      Actives: 4281          Expired: 45          Under Contract: 2305

Condos:               Actives: 793            Expired: 9            Under Contract: 194

 

Montgomery County

Single Family:     Actives: 3250          Expired: 16          Under Contract: 1733

Condos:              Actives: 1137          Expired: 8            Under Contract: 495

 

It is important to see the number of homes taken "Off" the market.  While many of these homes will return to the marketplace a week or two; seeing a listing "expire" means that the seller and agent thought or expected the home to be sold by now.

James...how timely is your post--have you seen Gettysburg Gerry's post today; he speaks to the same concept.
         thanks for posting another state's activity or lack there-of as it helps the understanding of what is actually happening in certain area around the country.
Love your Beagle and as you know, periodically I Need a Beagle-Fix.  thanks for always providing your pal--that way we won't feel sad at our loss of out 3.  and More aptly, will not open our home to any more as I would be concerned about our leaving this earth, or not being able to care for any pet, much less a Beagle--God's creature filled with boundless activity, curiosity,& energy.  Been there--done that--it was fun.
