As most sellers in the OKC metro area are painfully aware, buyer traffic has come to a snail-like crawl. It's nothing unusual for this time of year though, and certainly no reason for alarm. Every August, things seem to move into slow mode for a few weeks. Maybe it's the 100+ heat index, maybe it's the back-to-school rush to get things done, maybe it's both. I'm sure there's even a little bit of market shock playing a part. Either way, it's a reality and it's something we have to accept.
In the past 7 days, I've had only 6 total, combined showings on my current listings. Last month, I was seeing about 3 to 4 times as many showings in a week. Do I like it? No. Does it worry me? NO! You watch, as the kids get back into school and things settle back down, the buyers will be back out. Especially the ones that wanted to move in before the first day of school and just didn't find the right home. They're on a mission once the kids are out of the way!
So, sellers, get ready. Make sure your house is sparkling and ready to show it's best side, because I'm betting there's another rush of hot buyers getting set to find their dream home!
