Northwest Trek in Washington, near Eatonville, is a wildlife park that covers over 700 acres of varying terrain and types of habitat.
The park began by way of a generous donation of more than 500 acres from Dr. David & Connie Hellyer to Metro Parks of Tacoma in 1971. The Hellyers wanted to create a park that allows people to see North American wildlife in natural environments, and Northwest Trek has been very true to that vision.
There are walking trails with viewing points for many of the animals and birds, plus a tram ride that takes you right into the environment to see the free ranging wildlife - up close & personal.
The environment at Northwest Trek includes wetlands, pond, meadows, forests and hills; providing habitat for over 200 North American creatures.
.
The naturalists who take you on the tram ride provide a wealth of information on the wildlife - and point out the ones you might miss seeing in the trees or grass as well. Don't miss visiting Northwest Trek if you love animals, nature, and a great way to visit them in their natural setting.
And what you may ask is a "puffalo" anyway? Well, below is the photo I got of one right alongside the tram route - and for people other than my 3 year old granddaughter, you may actually know this better as a buffalo or bison..
