Crumbs Bake Shop began its life in 2003 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, but we’ve been enjoying their absolute wonderfulness for the last year or so here at 216 N. Larchmont Blvd., in Larchmont Village / Hancock Park. There are about five locations in California and I regard myself as fortunate every time I indulge. The shop occupies the old photo print shop and is handily close to Starbucks Coffee. Hmmm, those cupcake guys are smart!
Be warned though, these cupcakes are not for the faint of heart and they are huge. I usually eat mine with a fork and a glass of milk…in two sittings. However, they do have three sizes, so you can pace yourself. The Taste size is about an inch and comes in an assorted box of twelve. The Classic is about the size of a regular cupcake and comes in packs of six. The Signature is just plain huge at four inches high and is of course my favorite.
But wait, hold the presses – a new giant cupcake has just been announced, the Colossal and it’s six and a half inches tall and six inches wide. Make that two glasses of milk from now on please.
Need a fix and just can’t get there? They’ve got you covered. You can have local delivery in Los Angeles or they’ll ship them out frozen to you.
Next time you're in Larchmont Village, stop by and try one or take a box home. I'm sure you'll be back for more.
