This is NOT easy for me to admit, but I think some of the pictures I've posted that I had permission to use or even PAID for....wasn't that person's image to begin with. Which means I asked permission from someone who took that picture from someone else!!! Or I paid to use an image and maybe it wasn't theirs.......now I have to go check all my images. Someone mentioned they can attach a virus to a picture. I suppose thats to make sure people aren't stealing them. Well I am now going to read everything I can about this subject, but it makes me wonder....how safe are these pictures. Unless we take them ourselves how do we really know who they belong to?

I ran into this problem when I started my first blog. Government sources are excellent, as are pictures you have taken yourself. I also find good pictures on Wikipedia which have been released to the public domain. I pretty much limit myself to those three sources, but they cover most of my needs.
Oooo - I forgot one of the best places to find a great variety of pictures which you can use for any purpose: Microsoft's Office Clip Art page. I know they have those real estate pictures in front of houses with sold signs, smiling couples, and smiling agents.

Hi Stephanie. I think istock is legit it's some other places that aren't. One of the places I go to is gone!! I went there to email them and the entire website is gone!!! There was a message from the host saying the website had been removed for breach of terms....
