Thinking of building that lake-house? There are things to think about for that lake-house house-plan! 

Start with the question, "Why did you want to build on the lake to start with?"

There are probably several reasons for wanting a waterfront residence but somewhere in the list is THE VIEW.

When shopping for blueprints or talking to the architect, look for plans that allow the maximum exposure to the view from as many rooms as possible. 

Open floor plans for the main area lend themselves well to area view sharing since the area is one big space.  This allows the lake or water to be seen whether in the living area, dining area or kitchen, especially if the exposed wall toward the lake is mostly windows.

One home that I have listed has windows between the main living areas and an area of office space which is closest to the lake.  While sitting in the living room you can look through the windows across the office area and through windows in it's exterior wall to see a spectacular sunrise over the lake.

There are many ways to address the concern of being able to enjoy the view from all major areas of the home.  There will be a floor plan to suit you and your lake lot exactly!
