How Many Real Estate Agents Have Bailed?

By
Real Estate Agent with Harry Norman Realtors 280064

I hear more and more Real Estate Agents are hanging up their lockbox keys and giving up on this profession.  Not me!  I am changing my marketing approach, becoming more internet savey and definitely thinking outside the box.

There are still houses to be sold, perhaps fewer clients.  I believe those who survive during these downturns, can survive anything!

Rosemarie, find out where your niche buyers market is and go after that with your blog posts.  That's what worked for me & local market reports.

Great post Rosemarie. You are correct. Don't think anything is selling? Just check the MLS stats. They're not what they once were, but homes ARE selling.

So true - it's only a down market for those professionals who let it.. Like you said, there are transactions happening out there - just have to find a way to work 'em.. Good luck!

Rosemarie, outside the box is where we all need to be thinking. My wife, Susan Irving, and I have been in the business since 1984. We went to the raincamp in Dallas a few months ago and noticed most of the Realtors at the raincamp were under 35 years old. There were not many of us with gray hair. After we heard stories of how these "kids" were getting most of their business from the internet and their blogs, it got us moving in a different direction. Regardless of what some might say, the Internet is here to stay. Also, even though our business models as Realtors may change, Realtors are still needed.

Our local board says that the decrease has not been so drastic. Personally I think it is good for the business.

Rosemarie, right decision to stay in. Realtors should hone their craft and become experts.

Agents just need to study the MLS (I do daily) and find what price range and parts of town are moving and focus their marketing accordingly.
