Lee County Schools Back to School Open Houses

It is hard to believe but summer has flown by here in Lee County and it is almost time to start back for another school year. Schools on the traditional calendar (all schools except Tramway Elementary and Lee Early College) start back on Monday August 27th. Most schools are holding open houses for new and returning students this week and next week to allow students and parents to meet with new teachers and get ready for another exciting school year.

Broadway August 23rd 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

East Lee Middle

6th Graders August 18th 10am - 12 noon

All Grades August 23rd 5 pm - 7 pm

West Lee Middle

6th Graders August 18th 10am - 12 noon

Our schools used to start the first of August. I like the new calendar better because it gives us more family time in the summer.

I have a hard time accepting that so many schools start before Labor Day. Wallenpaupack has always started after Labor Day, and that's how it should be, IMHO. Our summer season can be so short sometimes, it's a real bummer when the warm weather doesnt' really arrive until late June/early July and in August you're going back to school again...

Until a couple of years ago local schools were starting the FIRST week of August. The calendar got changed so it is now the last week of August, which I like a lot better.

Our schools started back Monday and boy am I tired. Between homework, cheerleading practice, and scouts, the kids are very busy. I hope I get a few minutes to write about more local events soon.
