There are a few things Kentucky is famous for. Horses, Bluegrass Music and of course, Bourbon all come to mind! You can hit the trail this holiday season with a tour of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. For over 200 years, Kentucky distilleries such as Tom Moore, Wild Turkey and the Louisville favorite, Jim Beam, have created "America's Official Native Spirit." Kentucky is the birthplace of Bourbon!

Maker's Mark distillery in Loretto is part of the Bourbon Tour offered by Mint Julep tours. They offer half day (3-4 hour) tours and full day (7 hours) tour of the distilleries along the trail. You can also visit on your own! Maker's Mark is hosting a holiday candlelight tour on December 12th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. If you want to get there early, there will also be ice skating available noon until 9pm. Of course, if you get too cold, they have the perfect way to warm you back up.

One of the best kept secrets in Kentucky is Tom Moore Distillery! Their Bourbons have been rated some of the best tasting in Kentucky! You can tour their facilities Monday - Friday, 9:30am -1:30pm. With all of the tours, you want to check on the age requirements. Most tours will require you to be 21 years or older since there may be Bourbon tasting on the tour! This is one of the reasons taking part in a shuttle tour is a good idea! They provide the designated driver!

Some things run deep in Kentucky, one such thing is tradition. When something is right ,we keep doing it! With such well known American icons as the Kentucky Derby, Louisville Slugger, and Jim Beam it is easy to see why.
