In the $400-500,000 price point, there are currently only four homes for sale (residential listings) in the Hawi - Kapaau - Kohala area on the northern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii.
Each of these homes has a very different character.
The best buy is probably the home in the small Hanaula cul-de-sac conveniently loacated near schools, post office, grocery store and Kamehama Park recreational center. It is listed as a short sale at $499,900 and was built by a contractor for his own family. With 2378 sq ft, space to garage three cars, big secluded deck and the quiet location, this is a home that would easily accomodate many hobbies or a home office or two!
For the buyer seeking more of a plantation-era feel, this cute renovated home is listed at $510,000 and is bigger than many of these homes with 1300 sq ft
An unusual log-cabin style home accented with beautiful native woods nestled onto a lot overlooking a gulch and walking distance from the ocean at Keokea Park is offered for $459,000. Although this 2 bedroom, 1 bath house is only 750 sq ft, the cabin could become the first "pod" in an expansion reminsicent of the Balinese-style homes.
The last option would work for someone who wants a couple of acres with a starter home, 2 acres with 933 sq ft house for $450,000.
A hui hou!
