Still think you don’t have to include Facebook in your marketing mix?

Here are some statistics for you ...

1. By 2010 Gen Y will outnumber Baby Boomers.... 96% of them have joined a social network.

2. 1 out of 8 couples married in the U.S. last year met via social media.

3. Years to reach 50 million Users: Radio (38 Years), TV (13 Years), Internet (4 Years), iPod (3 Years)...

4. Facebook added 100 million users in less than 9 months... iPhone applications hit 1 billion in 9 months.

5. If Facebook were a country it would be the world's 4th largest between the United States and Indonesia (note that Facebook is now creeping up - recently announced 400 million users)

In Addition:

There are more than 100 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices.

People that use Facebook on their mobile devices are twice as active on Facebook than non-mobile users.

There are more than 200 mobile operators in 60 countries working to deploy and promote Facebook mobile products

I have had many family, friends and co-worker make fun of FAcebook over the years, until they begrudgingly "tried it out"....and now they are hooked.

I love it!

Ann has a point. I made fun of it, got on it, continued to make fun of it, then noticed that while I made fun of it, some of my clients added me, kept in contact with me, and contacted me when it was time to list or buy a home.

Hmm...this is tough one for me. As a Gen Y'r myself, I am still not sold on the real estate profiles I have seen set up on Facebook.  I join FB back in 2004 when it was still only available to colleges...as an "Old Timer," I still see the site as a way to connect with friends.

Where I do see some potential is actually with the Baby Boomers who are joining FB by the droves...these are people who seem more likely to be influenced by marketing through FB...as far as real estate goes.

Who knows, I could be wrong on Gen Y'rs and I may change my mind but knowing how my friends use FB...I'm not bought in yet with the whole real estate marketing aspect.

I have to say I think Facebook IS worth utilizing, if for no other reason than it's a way to connect with thousands of people in your area and that can never be a bad thing!
