Everybody needs a little help getting over the middle of the week! Going to the Bourbon Event at Proof on the Main in Louisville is probably one of the best ways to do that! On January 20th you can enjoy some of the best bourbons Kentucky has to offer, not to mention any number of signature drinks made at Proof!
The Bourbon Event is from 6pm-7pm and the cost is $25. You can choose from over 50 bourbons on hand at Proof. The restaurant and bar itself are imbued with Kentucky bourbon history. Occupying what was once four whiskey and tobacco warehouses on modern day West Main, it sits right on what was once known as Whiskey Row! With a history that goes back even further than the Kentucky Derby, this famous road boasts major horse races being ran right down the street!
Horse racing and bourbon together helped create Kentucky's two most famous legacies. Believe it or not, the bourbon of today is attributed to a Baptist minister! Reverend Elijah Craig stored and shipped corn whiskey in charred oak barrels. By the time it reached New Orleans, it had transformed to the drink we recognize today. In New Orleans, many Kentuckians swapped their lumber and bourbon for horses! It was from this stock we eventually got the well known racing horses of Kentucky!
You can make a day of touring the Kentucky Bourbon Trail or you can enjoy a night at one of the establishments along the Urban Bourbon Trail. You can start at Proof on the Main! From mint juleps to a whiskey smash, you can enjoy your bourbon on its own or mixed in a drink. No matter how you like it, the Bourbon Event at Proof is a great way end a Wednesday!
